SKF WAVE seals signify a hugely important development in the design of radial shaft seals. They are made using a special mould form which gives the seals hydrodynamic properties. WAVE seals are able to reduce friction between the shaft and lip (up to 20% reduction compared to standard lips) and therefore reduce heat generation at the point of contact. This design also generates a higher pumping rate, pumping lubrication back into the bearing and expelling contaminants.
